What we do

Trees, vegetation, stumps, levelling, in one quote.

Land clearing on a residential or commercial site can involve tree work, vegetation and undergrowth clearance, stump grinding and access protection. Where those items fall within our scope, they are set out under one quotation and handover rather than left as assumptions between contractors.

Permit requirements depend on the property, vegetation and proposed work. Clause 52.37, native-vegetation provisions, planning overlays, bushfire requirements, existing permit conditions and council requirements may apply separately. We check the available controls and identify the reports or approvals that need to be in place before clearing is scheduled.

Site handover is mulched, levelled to within 50mm, and ready for the next contractor. Wood chip can either be left on site for re-use as mulch on the eventual garden, or carted offsite. The site is documented with photographs and a written handover note for the builder or owner record.

What's in a clearing quote

Controls + approvals

The quotation records the controls reviewed, approvals assumed and any arborist or native-vegetation input still required.

Tree work

The trees approved for removal, dismantling method, rigging and access protection are identified in the written scope.

Vegetation + stump

Bobcat clearing of undergrowth, stump grinding to 300mm below grade ready for footings or paving.

Handover

Mulched, levelled, swept. Photo documentation for the builder. Chip in or out, your call.

What it costs

Indicative land-clearing pricing.

Land clearing pricing is too variable to quote sight-unseen. Here's the range so you know what to budget.

These are Hilly's indicative ranges, not industry averages or a property-specific quote. Access, condition, equipment, approvals, disposal and the final scope can change the price.

Small overgrown block
$1,500 to $4,000

Up to 200m², no protected trees, easy access.

  • 1 to 2 days on site
  • Mulched + levelled
  • Chip left as mulch
Standard residential block
$4,000 to $15,000

Standard suburban block, some mature trees, permit usually required.

  • Permit assumptions recorded
  • Stump depth specified
  • Handover condition agreed
Acreage or complex
$15,000 to $80,000+

Larger blocks, NVO overlays, mature canopy, multi-week project.

  • Project-managed
  • Native vegetation assessment
  • Chip carted offsite available

How we work

The standard process.

Step 01

Site walk

Free, no obligation. We assess overlays, count trees, check access, talk through builder timing.

Step 02

Quote + permit pathway

Written quote with itemised scope, plus a clear path on which permits are needed and the timeline.

Step 03

Approvals confirmed

Required permissions and retained-tree protection are confirmed before the clearing date. Neighbour or council notifications are completed where the approval or site plan requires them.

Step 04

Clear, mulch, hand over

On-site work runs to schedule. Block handed over photo-documented and slab-ready.

Council coverage

Planning, vegetation and site controls.

An overlay does not produce the same answer on every site. The schedule, exemptions, vegetation type, extent of work and other controls need to be reviewed. We record the assumed approval pathway in the quotation and do not clear regulated vegetation without the required authority.

FAQs

The questions we get most.

Highly variable. Small overgrown block (200m²): $1,500 to $4,000. Standard residential block with permit: $4,000 to $15,000. Acreage with mature trees: $15,000 to $80,000+. We always quote after a site visit, never sight unseen.

Possibly. Clause 52.37, planning overlays, native-vegetation provisions, bushfire controls, existing permit conditions or council requirements may apply. The address and full clearing scope need to be checked together. We do not schedule regulated clearing until the required written authority is in place.

Only after the site, access, retained vegetation and required approvals have been confirmed. For builder work, involving us during design or pre-start planning gives enough time to resolve reports and permit conditions before the construction program depends on the cleared site.

Most of our clearing work is for builders and developers. We invoice direct, work to your build schedule, and have a partner agreement template if you want a longer engagement. Ask about preferred-builder pricing.

Mulched, levelled, swept clean, ready for the next contractor. Chip is left as mulch by default. Carting offsite is an extra line on the quote. We send the builder photos and a written handover note.
