What we do

Assessment, permits, removal, clean-up.

Most healthy mature trees are worth keeping. Storm damage, structural defects, severe decline, an approved building footprint and conflicts that cannot reasonably be managed are common reasons to assess removal. The recommendation is based on the tree, surrounding targets, proposed use of the site and available retention options.

Where removal is the right call, the method depends on the site. An open backyard with no targets can take a straight fell. A constrained site with structures, powerlines, or protected adjacent trees needs a sectional dismantle with rigging. Chipping, wood removal and clean-up are set out in the agreed scope.

Since 15 September 2025, Clause 52.37 has added a state planning-permit trigger for qualifying canopy trees in specified residential zones and site situations. Planning overlays, native-vegetation provisions, existing permit conditions and council requirements can apply separately. We check the available controls and identify the supporting information required; council remains responsible for the permit decision. Carry out the agreed removal

Required permissions are confirmed before work proceeds. Material handling and clean-up follow the agreed scope.

A tree over 5 metres is not automatically protected. Clause 52.37 applies only when its zone, measurement, site-position and work tests are met, and other controls can apply independently. We review the address and scope, explain what still needs confirmation and prepare supporting arborist information where required.

The questions we get most.

Often, yes. Since September 2025, Clause 52.37 requires a permit for canopy trees (over 5m tall, trunk circumference over 0.5m, and canopy at least 4m wide, all three must apply) on vacant lots and near front or rear boundaries in most residential zones. Planning overlays (VPO, SLO, ESO, HO) and council local laws can also require one. We check all three layers for your address, write the arborist report, and lodge the application. Some canopy tree applications are eligible for VicSmart: a 10-business-day statutory assessment once the application is complete, depending on the full set of controls affecting the works.

Tree size, condition, access, equipment and the work required affect the quote. Send photos and the address so we can confirm the assessment needed. Stump work, material removal and any supporting report are identified in the agreed scope.

Work near powerlines needs assessment and coordination with the relevant network operator before proceeding. Include the powerlines and surrounding area in your enquiry so those requirements can be considered.

Yes. Stump grinding can be included as an agreed part of the project. Tell us how the area will be used afterwards so grinding, material removal and any further preparation can be discussed.

If no permit is required, scheduling depends on crew, equipment and site access. Permit work cannot be scheduled until the required permission is in place; council timing varies with the pathway and whether the application is complete. Urgent hazards are triaged by phone.
