Most healthy mature trees are worth keeping. Storm damage, structural defects, severe decline, an approved building footprint and conflicts that cannot reasonably be managed are common reasons to assess removal. The recommendation is based on the tree, surrounding targets, proposed use of the site and available retention options.
Where removal is the right call, the method depends on the site. An open backyard with no targets can take a straight fell. A constrained site with structures, powerlines, or protected adjacent trees needs a sectional dismantle with rigging. Clean-up includes chipping all brash on site and removing all woody material from the property.
Since 15 September 2025, Clause 52.37 has added a state planning-permit trigger for qualifying canopy trees in specified residential zones and site situations. Planning overlays, native-vegetation provisions, existing permit conditions and council requirements can apply separately. We check the available controls and identify the supporting information required; council remains responsible for the permit decision. A photo of the tree and a rough size is enough to start. We'll come back the same day with a site-visit time, often this week.

Written plan in your inbox
A written quote with the scope, price, timing assumptions and permit pathway. Usually issued within two business days of the site visit.
Removal day
Scheduled removal completed on time, all material chipped and removed from site, written confirmation issued at completion.
Property controls and permit pathway.
A tree over 5 metres is not automatically protected. Clause 52.37 applies only when its zone, measurement, site-position and work tests are met, and other controls can apply independently. We review the address and scope, explain what still needs confirmation and prepare supporting arborist information where required.
