What we do

Diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing care for established trees.

Tree health care (also called plant health care, or PHC) is the discipline of keeping established trees alive and structurally sound across a property over years and decades. It's separate from removal or pruning. It is mostly diagnosis, soil and root work, targeted treatment of pests and pathogens, and scheduled monitoring of mature trees the owner wants to keep.

A typical engagement begins with an on-site health assessment by AQF Level 5 arborists. We use the Visual Tree Assessment method to identify structural defects, fungal fruiting bodies, root collar issues, dieback patterns, and pest activity. Where indicated, we follow up with treatments such as deep-root fertilising via compressed-air injection, root collar excavation to expose buried flares, soil amendment for pH correction, and trunk or canopy injection for borer or scale infestations.

Most properties with mature trees benefit from a 12-month care plan with one comprehensive audit and one to two scheduled treatment visits aligned to the species and the local conditions. We document each visit in writing, with photographs, so the tree's health record builds up over time and can be shared with future buyers, insurers, or councils.

What's in a health assessment

Visual Tree Assessment

Per the Mattheck-Breloer method. Structural defects, lean, decay indicators, root plate condition, target zones, all recorded.

Soil and root analysis

Soil pH, drainage, compaction, root collar exposure. Where indicated, deep-root sampling for nutrient deficiency or pathogen presence.

Pest and disease screening

Borer, scale, possum, psyllid, phytophthora, armillaria, and other Melbourne-relevant pathogens identified and reported.

Written report + plan

Findings, photographs, and a recommended treatment plan with priorities. Yours to keep, share with insurers or buyers, or use in council submissions.

What it costs

Single assessment or annual care plan.

Most clients start with a single tree health assessment and move into a 12-month care plan once the baseline is established.

Single tree assessment
$250 to $450

One tree, on-site health assessment, written report with recommendations. Treatment quoted separately if indicated.

All significant trees on the property, full health audit, prioritised treatment plan. The annual baseline.

  • Multi-tree assessment

  • 12-month treatment plan
12-month care plan
$1,500 to $5,000 per year

Property audit + scheduled treatment visits across the year. Deep-root fertilising, pest management, soil amendment as needed.

  • 1 to 3 treatment visits
  • Documented health record
  • Priority storm response

Acute treatments (storm-stressed trees, sudden pest outbreaks, root damage from construction) are quoted as separate engagements.

How we work

The standard process.

Step 01

Initial call

Tell us the property, the trees of concern, and the trigger (visible decline, recent storm, pre-sale inspection, etc).

Step 02

On-site assessment

AQF Level 5 arborists walk the property and complete a Visual Tree Assessment of each significant tree. Usually 1 to 2 hours.

Step 03

Written report and plan

Findings, photographs, recommended treatments and timing. Within 5 business days of the assessment.

Step 04

Treatment visits as needed

Treatments scheduled to the species and the season. Each visit documented and added to the property's tree health record.
