What we do

Diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing care for established trees.

Changes in leaf cover, dieback, damage around the roots or visible pest activity can be reasons to have a tree assessed. Tell us what has changed and when you first noticed it, including any recent building or garden work nearby.

A tree health assessment considers the tree, surrounding soil and roots, visible defects and signs of pests or disease. Further investigation may be needed before the cause is understood. Treatment should follow the findings.

We can discuss an individual tree or several trees across a property. Any treatment, report or ongoing visits are agreed for the findings and the work you need.

What's in a health assessment

Visual Tree Assessment

Per the Mattheck-Breloer method. Structural defects, lean, decay indicators, root plate condition, target zones, all recorded.

Soil and root analysis

Soil pH, drainage, compaction, root collar exposure. Where indicated, deep-root sampling for nutrient deficiency or pathogen presence.

Pest and disease screening

Borer, scale, possum, psyllid, phytophthora, armillaria, and other Melbourne-relevant pathogens identified and reported.

Written report + plan

Findings, photographs, and a recommended treatment plan with priorities. Yours to keep, share with insurers or buyers, or use in council submissions.

We review the tree condition and surroundings, and discuss whether further investigation is needed.

Agree the next steps

Any report, treatment or monitoring is scoped to the findings and confirmed before proceeding.

Carry out agreed work

The agreed treatment or follow-up work is arranged for the tree and conditions.

The questions we get most.

Pruning is the cutting of branches to AS4373 for shape, clearance, or safety. Tree health care is the underlying discipline of diagnosing and treating tree health issues so the tree stays alive and structurally sound. Pruning is a tool used inside a health care plan, but most health care work involves no cutting at all.

The number of trees, site, assessment required and any report affect the quote. Treatment or further investigation is discussed separately after the findings are known.

It is a method of applying nutrients in the root zone. Whether fertilising is appropriate depends on the tree and soil findings.

That depends on the cause and extent of decline. We assess the tree before recommending treatment, further investigation or other options.

No. A single significant tree on a normal residential block is enough to justify a one-off assessment. Older or heritage trees, recently storm-stressed trees, or trees affected by nearby construction are all good candidates for assessment.
